Getting personal in the fight against cancer
The University of Queensland established a laboratory dedicated to designing, manufacturing and delivering personalised mRNA cancer vaccines, closing a gap in Australia's drug development infrastructure.
Before it existed, a group could design a personalised vaccine but had nowhere in the country to make it to the standard a trial requires. Bringing design, manufacture and delivery under one roof is what makes patient-specific vaccines practical on a clinically useful timeline.
That laboratory is the foundation the Australian mRNA Cancer Vaccine Hub is built on.
