Personalised vaccines for children with advanced brain tumours

Brain tumours remain among the hardest cancers to treat and among the most devastating in children. Professor Brandon Wainwright leads the Hub's paediatric brain cancer program.

The program underpins PaedNEO-VAX, a world-first clinical trial testing personalised mRNA vaccines in children with advanced brain tumours. The trial uses genome sequencing of each child's tumour to design a vaccine made for that patient alone.

Neo-antigens that lymphoma cannot afford to lose

Translational Research Institute CEO Professor Maher Gandhi is a practising haematologist with a research focus on treatment-resistant lymphoma.

Professor Gandhi has identified that lymphomas express a variety of neo-antigens derived from B-cell receptors and driver mutations in patient samples that are necessary for cancer survival. As part of the Hub's blood cancers program, Professor Gandhi will investigate the potential of these neo-antigens to stimulate lasting immunity against lymphoma.
